This case study considers the success factors in C2C platforms. The C2C platform in Japan has been led by Yahoo! Auctions for many years. However, Mercari appeared in 2013, and the number of users has rapidly increased. Through this case study, the C2C platform business model, the indirect network effect, and the importance and method of constructing governance for this platform will be studied.
